Why a Ride & Cookout?
Marshall United Methodist Church
Starting point of The Ride
It seems like the logical Fund Raiser for financing the purchase of a motorcycle. And yet, we wanted to be inclusive with both our church-member base and the local community. This is our first Benefit Motorcycle Ride, so we aren't sure yet how strong the cross-over between biker rider and church goer will be, but we'll soon know.

Our mission work in Cameroon began in 2008 as we developed contacts and made plans for our first Mission Trip. We've had two trips to Cameroon, the first was in 2009 and the second was in early 2010. We have a third trip scheduled for late January, 2011.

We have consistently received generous support from local churches and the Marshall community. In planning this event we wanted to be sure we not only invited the community, but also support it. One example of our support of the community is scheduling our event on the same day as the 7th Annual Blues Festival and highlighting that event as we promote our fund raiser. We are also doing our best to acknowledge the many business that have contributed to our success.

The wonderful bikers who participate in our Benefit Ride are contributing more than their registration fees. They are helping build awareness and interest in our humanitarian efforts. After the Ride we want them to enjoy a typical Summer Cookout, and we want the community to come out and enjoy the festivities and take a look at some beautiful motorcycles! Our meal is scheduled to end by 5pm, leaving plenty of time to get to downtown Marshall before the first act performs on the center stage.

With your help we will provide financial support to the Sumbe Health Clinic. Should we raise more funds than are needed to purchase the motorcycle, the remaining balance will be used to purchase medical supplies. THANK YOU!
